Motorcycle accidents can lead to serious injuries

Posted on March 28, 2018 in

Fatal road accidents can involve all kinds of vehicles from standard passenger vehicles to commercial trucks. Motorcycle accidentscan be particularly devastating due to the serious injuries and deaths that can occur as a result. In fact, motorcyclists are 26 times more likely to die in an accident than someone in a passenger vehicle.

Motorcyclists face a unique set of risks and challenges while driving on the streets of Denver. Statistics show that in nearly two-thirds of motorcycle accidents involving other vehicles, the other vehicle failed to yield. Why are motorcyclists the victims of this type of accident? Some say it has to do to with visibility. Motorcycles are smaller than most vehicles and are often blocked by other vehicles on the road or obscured by poor weather conditions.

A majority of motorcycle accidents occur at intersections where visibility is the most lacking. Road hazards such as potholes and debris may not be a big deal for the average vehicle, but they can be particularly dangerous for motorcyclists. There have also been defects in the motorcycle itself that have played a role in many accidents. These defects can involve the design or the manufacturing.

It is evident from these challenges that – thanks to the negligence of other parties – motorcyclists may be risking a lot when they travel. When other drivers do not act appropriately and take precautions to prevent motorcyclist accidents, it is often the motorcyclist that ends up suffering the most. By filing a lawsuit against the negligent driver or drivers involved, motorcyclists may be able to receive damages to help them recover financially, physically and emotionally.
