These types of car accident injuries are common

Posted on May 18, 2018 in

You never know what could happen as the result of a motor vehicle accident, as no two incidents are the same.

There are minor fender benders in which all parties walk away from the scene without any injuries. Conversely, there are situations in which a serious injury occurs.

Here are some of the most common car accident injuries:

  • Broken bones: The impact of an accident has the potential to result in broken bones, such as those in the arms, legs, hands and feet.
  • Back and neck injuries: Any type of accident, even one at a slow speed, can cause a back or neck injury. This is likely in rear end accidents, with whiplash a common injury.
  • Brain and head injuries: These are among the most serious car accident injuries, as they have the potential to alter your life forever. From a concussion to a traumatic brain injury, any blow to the head requires immediate medical treatment.
  • Abrasions and burns: While not always a result of a car accident, both abrasions and burns can be serious and difficult to treat.

These are not the only injuries you can suffer in a car accident, but they are among the most common.

If you’re part of a crash, one of the first things you should do is check yourself (and your passengers) for injuries. From there, call 911 to ensure that you receive immediate medical treatment. Once you do these things, you can refocus your attention on the cause of the accident and the steps you can take to protect your legal rights.
